Ode to the Petty Tyrant

Driven by forces you do NOT comprehend

refusing to lift the barrier behind which you pretend

to those who give you friendship over whom you exert control

in the name of loving tolerance as you hide behind your role.

When we try to explain the questions you ask

you whinge and complain and glue on your mask

of superior being who’s under attack

as you run away screaming from the ‘wild hungry pack’.

You forgot all the reasons agreements were made

that you can’t rule the seasons or expect to be paid

lip service to please you, empty words on demand

just because you believe that we’re yours to command.

Lifting the veils behind which spiralling images,

feelings and voices from the past reveal their stories,

I go to the silence that allows understanding.

Hidden beneath the pounding heartbeat lie the gemstones of experience,

Their sparkling colours reflect the light of an awakened soul,

Free of the shadows cast by the twisted versions of truth.

When we live without appreciation

we spend our lives chasing liberation

from the self imposed prison of inflexible thought.

Love fails to reach through invisible walls

of projected false image before which everything falls.

freedom’s gestures of friendship

seen as threats to be fought.

Smothered in darkness, our creativity dies

our experience filtered through insinuation and lies

easy prey to the peddlers of what cannot be bought.

With the pawns
of it’s own ignorance
humanity plays the game
of who’s the better blind-man
in all that’s mad
in all that’s sane.

Accepting new realities
in their shape and in their form
is like reaching for a feather
in the heart of some wild storm
Open wide and rise above
I hear my soul command
deep inside is such great love
so take it by the hand
travel deep and travel free
let nothing pull you down
keep moving through the things you see
while listening to love’s sound.

Raise the level of imagination
far beyond the realms of your fear.
Restrain all those wild temptations
just till the picture is clear.
Then race like the devil
through bracken and thorns
for then you’ll not stumble
at the sight of strange forms.
Dance through the sky
find the courage to see
clear all those phantoms
let your spirit be free.
Taste of gold honey
Nectar of God
be not a prisoner
of yet another mind fog.

The harmony deep within you
needs a focus to be expressed.
So much to discover
fear not to uncover
all that has been suppressed.

Interweaving dependence
on all things alive
we are the intangibles
in the will to survive.
Through all within all
we remain the unchanged….
paradoxical keepers of motion.
We’re within the deep meaning
we’re part of the ocean
where everything moves
with the tides.
Taste salt of the waters
come, dance in the waves
know that life in each drop
…. there abides.
